Donation For Bee Research Support

Beekeepers generally agree that more money is needed for research on promoting the health of bees and into the causes of colony failure. Your donations for research donations are ring fenced in our accounts for use on research projects only. CBKA has joined with other associations in this area to sponsor a research student; Members are asked to support this programme and the BBKA Research Fund. A jar of honey is worth at least £5.00 today and a donation of at least this amount would be appreciated. Thank you.

Gift Aid

I am a UK Taxpayer. Please treat my subscriptions and any donations I make to be treated as Gift Aid donations until I notify you otherwise. I confirm I have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) that I donate to will reclaim on my gifts for that tax year.
Note that CBKA cannot reclaim tax on the BDI premium for extra hives or for magazine subs. The amount eligible for Gift Aid is the subtotal before insurance and subs.

Extra Bee Disease Insurance

The Ordinary Members’ subscription also includes ‘Scheme A’ Bee Disease Insurance cover for up to three hives.
If you have more than 39 colonies you should arrange insurance yourself under ‘Scheme B’ direct through Bee Diseases Insurance
Premiums paid after 31 March give cover from 41 days after payment until 31 December that year.
Note that it is the number of colonies that you have at the time of inspection when foul brood is found that counts for insurance. All colonies must be covered by insurance. In the event of underinsurance, claims will be rendered invalid and no compensation paid. Members must therefore take out insurance for the number of colonies they anticipate having in the summer, including nucs, splits and swarms.

Optional Printed Publication Fees

* CBKA arranges group subscriptions to the Beekeepers' Quarterly magazine; these discounted prices are only available for those renewing membership before 1 March.
