Fairs, Shows and Public Events

CBKA Mobile

The picture shows our trailer selling a variety of honeys, pure beeswax candles, cosmetics and other bee-based products. We regularly take the trailer and accompanying gazebo to shows and fairs to promote beekeeping. CBKA tries to go to events that will be well attended by the public, in order to emphasise the importance of honeybees, to dispel the fears of adults and to stimulate the interest of children in beekeeping for the future.

We frequently take glass-fronted observation hives that prove extremely popular with members of the public who can see the bees working inside a real hive. Children are regularly seen at shows proudly sporting their 'I Found the Queen!' badges. We are invited to events at a wide variety of venues and average about 30 days a year; this provides many opportunities for members to meet and work together. The presence of the Association stall at events raises the profile of CBKA. This method of promoting beekeeping has proved highly successful and has enabled the Association to promote the Beginners Courses and bring new beekeepers into the craft to replace those retiring.
